The Deputy Prime Minister Chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting today at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet emphasised the strength of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kyrgyz Republic, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Cabinet noted the importance of the visit of His Excellency Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, to Bahrain and its role in further enhancing bilateral relations.
The Cabinet affirmed the importance of the Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2025, recently inaugurated by the Deputy Prime Minister, and extended its congratulations to the winners for their contributions to advancing sustainable smart city development. The Cabinet commended the efforts of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in organising the event.
The Cabinet condemned and denounced the terrorist plots targeting the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirming Bahrain’s unwavering support for Jordan and its legitimate measures to safeguard its security and stability.
The Cabinet expressed its heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church, to his family and to the people of allied nations. The Cabinet also paid tribute to His Holiness’s enduring efforts to advance peace, coexistence, and interfaith understanding around the world. The Cabinet emphasised His Holiness's cooperation with the Kingdom in supporting its initiatives to consolidate the values of coexistence, compassion and peace.
The Cabinet then reviewed and approved several memorandums, including:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Interior on the technical compliance follow-up report for the comprehensive national assessment within the fifth round of evaluations from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
2. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Finance and National Economy and the Minister of Industry and Commerce regarding the decision of the Permanent Committee for Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade of GCC countries, to impose anti-dumping duties on a number of imports from GCC countries.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture on the acquisition of real estate for public use, to provide necessary spaces for urban development.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments regarding the Host Country Agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to five proposals and one draft law submitted by the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and Chairman of the Tender Board on the most important performance indicators of the Tender Board in 2024.
In addition, the Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week 2025.
2. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum.
