HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting, held remotely.

The Cabinet praised HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for reaffirming the Kingdom’s full support for Jordan to protect its sovereignty, under the leadership of HM King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, and highlighted the strength of Bahraini-Jordanian relations.

The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom’s set goals for curbing the spread of COVID-19 during the upcoming period, which centres around reducing mortality and hospital admission rates, increasing vaccination rates, and encouraging all citizens and residents to follow preventive measures.

The Cabinet then commended the Ministry of Interior’s and the Ministry of Health’s efforts towards the health and safety of inmates and workers in correction and rehabilitation centres, in accordance with established health measures, and celebrated the efforts of Bahrain’s frontline health workers on the occasion of World Health Day.

Later, His Royal Highness issued directives, doubling social security assistance as well as disability pensions, and ordered the Ministry of Labour and Social Development to start disbursing payments during the holy month of Ramadan.
On the occasion of the International Day of Conscience, which was adopted by the United Nations in response to an initiative by the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Cabinet praised the contributions of the late His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to the Kingdom’s development, The Cabinet also expressed its solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt in developing water security policies, and expressed the Kingdom's support for the efforts in preserving water rights as stipulated in international laws during the filling and operating process of the Renaissance Dam.

The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, and outlined the following outcomes:

Firstly: The approval of the following memorandums:

1. A memorandum presented by Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft decision on public health centres’ licensing requirements, administration conditions, and obligations.
2. A memorandum presented by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs concerning the press, printing and publishing.
3. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Education on expanding language elective courses at government schools to gradually include the United Nations’ languages.
4. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism on the Al-Dur Power and Water plant’s governing regulations.
5. A memorandum presented by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the Government's responses to 6 proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

Secondly: The Cabinet reviewed the following topic:

1. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Interior on the achievements of the operations and governance sector at the Information and eGovernment Authority for the year 2020.
2. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Finance and National Economy on the Kingdom’s Q4 2020 quarterly economic report, paying particular attention to QoQ non-oil GDP growth of 3.3% as economic activity picked-up with the support of a financial support package and the National Vaccination Campaign.
3. A memorandum presented by HE the Minister of Housing on the Ministry's priorities, objectives and programmes for the years 2019-2022.
