The Deputy Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet affirmed the participation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the installation ceremony of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar as King of the Kingdom of Malaysia, in response to an invitation received by His Majesty. The Cabinet added that the invitation received by HM the King reflects the strong relationship between the two Kingdoms and their mutual desire to develop cooperation and coordination to fulfill the aspirations of their peoples.

The Cabinet expressed its congratulations to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Sultan Iskandar as the King of Malaysia and expressed its best wishes for His Majesty’s continued success in carrying out his royal duties.

The Cabinet affirmed the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for Bahrain’s press, noting the development of the Kingdom's press under the leadership of HM the King.

The Cabinet then commended the contributions of the Bahraini press and its active role in furthering national progress and development. The Cabinet congratulated the winners of the eighth edition of the Prime Minister’s Award for Journalism, emphasising that the award serves as an incentive for journalists and media professionals to continue their creativity and excellence, which is reflected in the development of the national media and journalism sector.

The Cabinet commended the efforts of the government authorities, led by the Ministry of Interior and the Jaffari Endowments Council, as well as the role of heads of Ma’atams, supervising committees, and volunteers for their cooperation and commitment to ensuring a successful Ashura.

On the occasion of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Cabinet commended the Kingdom’s achievements in combating human trafficking, which has received international recognition, affirming the Kingdom's progressive legislation and regulations that have enhanced Bahrain's position in this regard. The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the active role of the Ministry of Interior and all concerned authorities in maintaining Bahrain’s Tier1 status.

The Cabinet then followed up on the preparations of the Council of Representatives by-elections for the first constituency in Muharraq Governorate, which will take place on 7 September 2024. In this regard, the Cabinet emphasised the importance of supporting the relevant authorities’ unified efforts to ensure the success of the elections.

The Cabinet also emphasised the importance of safety procedures and components across construction sites, as well as adhering to the safety guidelines to preserve the safety of workers and the public from any life-threatening accidents.

The Cabinet then expressed its congratulations to the government and people of the United Arab Emirates on the declaration of July 18 as " Union Pledge Day", commemorating the historic meeting in 1971 where UAE founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and other Emirates rulers, signed the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution while announcing the official name of the United Arab Emirates. In this regard, the Cabinet commended the UAE's developmental achievements across various fields.

The Cabinet strongly condemned the shooting incident in Al Wadi Al Kabir area of Muscat Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. The Cabinet denounced this heinous attack that goes against all religious and moral values and aims to destabilise the security and stability of Oman.

The Cabinet expressed its strong condemnation of the assassination attempt of the former President of the United States of America and Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, during an election rally in Pennsylvania, United States of America, which is a crime contrary to democratic principles.

The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to two laws and three proposed laws submitted by the Council of Representatives.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an MoU between the Supreme Council of Health in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service in the Republic of South Korea.
3. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an MoU between the Education and Training Quality Authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Quality Authority regarding the approval of the Authority’s reports.

The Cabinet then reviewed the following memorandums:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the decisions and recommendations of the Capital Municipal Council and the municipal councils during the second session of the sixth municipal period between September 2023 and June 2024.
2. A joint memorandum submitted by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Works regarding the projects funded by revenues of the Municipal Shared Resources Fund.

The Cabinet then took note of the following ministerial reports:

1. Outcomes of the participation in the Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza
2. Outcomes of the participation in the consultative meeting on enhancing coordination on peace initiatives for the Republic of Sudan
3. Participation in the Ministerial Meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue
4. Outcomes of the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the United States of America
5. Outcomes of the participation in the open debate session of the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue
6. Outcomes of the official visit of the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning to the People’s Republic of China
7. Participation in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development
