HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting today at Gudaibiya Palace.
On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the establishment of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the Cabinet commended the BDF’s advancements in enhancing combat readiness, attributing this progress to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The Cabinet extended its best wishes for the BDF’s continued progress and development.
The Cabinet praised the success of the second edition of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the patronage of His Majesty the King. The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to the sponsors, contributors, and organisers of the championship and wished them continued success.
On the occasion of World Interfaith Harmony Week, which is celebrated annually in the first week of February, the Cabinet affirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, to building bridges of communication, cooperation, and dialogue among various civilisations, cultures, and religions, promoting values of tolerance and coexistence for the benefit of humanity. The Cabinet highlighted the importance of this occasion in unifying efforts aimed at enhancing dialogue between cultures and religions.
The Cabinet highlighted the broad participation in the sixth edition of the Government Innovation Competition, Fikra. The Cabinet reviewed the Government Executive Committee’s memorandum on the proposed concepts and directed ministries and government agencies to assess the feasibility of incorporating these innovative ideas into their development projects.
On the occasion of the upcoming Bahrain Sports Day, the Cabinet announced that Thursday, 20 February 2025, will be a half-working day for all ministries and government agencies, allowing employees to participate in Sports activities.
The Cabinet affirmed the significance of the official visit by Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, highlighting her role in strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination.
On the occasion of National Environment Day, observed annually on 4 February, the Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to adopting projects and programs that support environmental goals and enhance community participation in sustainability efforts.
The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication on developments in the digital transformation project for government services. The move aims to improve the efficiency of government procedures and services for citizens.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Information Technology and Communication regarding the launch of the e-Key 2.0 and the My Government application. The first phase of its launch will include an ID card, passport, driving license, vehicle ownership, residency, birth certificate, vehicle registration, and medical appointment services, as well as Ministry of Interior reports.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance on the memberships, subscriptions and contributions of the Kingdom of Bahrain in international organisations.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law on secured transactions.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Industry and Commerce regarding the accession of the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye to the Basic Statute of the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development.
6. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Industry and Commerce regarding the request for approval to authorise the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and New Zealand.
7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to three proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.
In addition, the Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of the Kingdom's participation in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Arab Energy Fund.
2. Outcomes of the Kingdom's participation in the 50th edition of the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress 2025.
3. Outcomes of the Kingdom's participation in the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs ceremony on the occasion of the first Arab Day of Older Persons and Arab Volunteer Day.
4. External visits made by the Kingdom, and official visits made to the Kingdom by various international delegations of February 2025.
