HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet welcomed the outcomes of the 45th GCC Summit, held in the state of Kuwait, where on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness led Bahrain’s delegation. The Cabinet stressed the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing joint GCC collaboration for the benefit of its member states and citizens.
The Cabinet emphasised the importance of His Royal Highness’s meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasising the longstanding Bahrain-UAE relations and enduring partnership shaped by shared historical stances. The Cabinet commended the outcomes of the Joint Ministerial Committee Meeting Between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, which was recently held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where the UAE's delegation was led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Cabinet extended its congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa following the Kingdom of Bahrain’s winning three awards at the Arab Government Excellence Awards.
The awards include the Best Arab Minister Award, presented to the Minister of Finance and National Economy, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Arab Government Excellence Award for the Best Arab Government Community Development Project, awarded to the Alternative Sentencing programme, and the Best Arab Government Project to Empower Young People Award, recognising the Lamea national programme.
The Cabinet expressed its pride in Team Bahrain's efforts and excellence across various sectors, which have earned international recognition.
The Cabinet commended the successful organisational efforts of the national workforce across various government entities, which contributed to the Kingdom of Bahrain’s recent successes in hosting regional and international events. In this regard, the Cabinet affirmed the importance of the seventh edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara'ee 2024), held under the patronage of HM the King.
The Cabinet commended the efforts of the Bahrain Defence Force’s Royal Guard in ensuring the success of the Mara'ee 2024. The Cabinet also praised the support of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in organising the event, as highlighted in a report submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
The Cabinet recognised the success of Jewellery Arabia 2024, Cityscape Bahrain 2024 and Scent Arabia 2024, all held under the patronage of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. These events witnessed high levels of participation and attendance, reflecting Bahrain’s excellence in hosting and organising prestigious exhibitions.
The Cabinet extended its gratitude to the personnel at the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Tourism, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), and the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), as well as other authorities for their contributions to the success of these major events hosted by Bahrain.
The Cabinet reviewed a report submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding the impact of these exhibitions on the Kingdom’s economy.
The Cabinet welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in the Lebanese Republic, reached through constructive diplomatic mediation by the United States of America and the French Republic, stressing the need for full commitment to an immediate, comprehensive and permanent ceasefire by all parties.
The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft law amending some provisions of the Law of Social Associations, and Clubs, Cultural and Private Bodies Operating in the Field of Youth, Sports, and Private Institutions.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding Bahrain joining the Riyadh Global Drought Resilience Initiative.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a memorandum of understanding establishing a strategic partnership between the Bahrain Polytechnic and Shanghai University.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding an executive programme in the sports sector between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the French Republic.
The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Sustainable Development outlining developments in implementing the priorities of the Ministry of Sustainable Development (2023-2024).
In addition, the Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the Arab Government Excellence Award ceremony.
2. Bahrain’s participation in the 40th session of the Arab Justice Ministers Council.
3. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the opening of the Global Media Congress.
4. Outcomes of implementing the distance learning day for all government schools.
5. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the Misk Global Forum.
6. Outcomes of Bahrain’s participation in the Global Women’s Forum.
7. The external participations of various ministers and upcoming visits of foreign delegations to the Kingdom of Bahrain in December.
