HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Bahrain’s National Day celebration, in commemoration of the establishment of Bahrain as a modern state and Arab and Muslim country in 1783 by Ahmed Al Fateh, as well as the Anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne.
The Cabinet also congratulated the people of Bahrain on this national occasion, noting that the Kingdom also celebrates Bahraini citizens’ accomplishments that further the Kingdom of Bahrain's comprehensive development, led by His Majesty the King.
The Cabinet expressed its thanks and appreciation to all the institutions and companies taking part in the “Celebrate Bahrain” events.
Following the Royal Directives of His Majesty the King, and on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s National Day celebrations, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister directed for the distribution of 6,800 housing services to citizens. His Royal Highness directed that ready housing units be distributed to beneficiaries starting from December 16, and assigned the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to make the necessary preparations to start the distribution.
To mark Commemoration Day, the Cabinet paid tribute to the Kingdom's fallen servicemen, who made noble sacrifices for the security of Bahrain and its citizens.
The Cabinet noted the outcomes of the 44th session of the Supreme Council of the GCC, in which HM the King led Bahrain’s delegation and highlighted HM the King’s commitment to further GCC work to achieve its goals and consolidate GCC collaboration and integration.
The Cabinet then commended the exceptional organisation of the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness, and noted the outstanding efforts of the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in furthering the Kingdom’s sporting achievements.
The Cabinet highlighted the outcomes of the Arab International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition, which was held under His Royal Highness’s patronage and inaugurated by the Minister of Interior, His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, on behalf of His Royal Highness.
The Cabinet emphasised the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting and enhancing international efforts focused on raising cybersecurity awareness, protecting digital infrastructure, and confronting cybersecurity challenges.
The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:
1. A memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee regarding a proposal to develop 500 government services within the Government Initiatives to Support Innovation and to form work teams across each government service agency to implement the initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance regarding the third general increase in the capital of the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit.
3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a draft decision to regulate joint financial services to improve oversight and performance.
4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding Bahrain joining the Counter Ransomware Initiative, which is a platform for member states to exchange data and information to proactively prepare for cyber threats and attacks.
5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of space science and technology between the National Space Science Agency and the National Space Science and Technology Center at the United Arab Emirates University.
The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum from the Minister of Cabinet Affairs regarding proposals for developing regulatory procedures for hosting events and exhibitions.
In addition, the Cabinet noted the following ministerial reports:
1. Outcomes of the participation in the meeting of the International Council for Dates and the International Dates Exhibition
2. Outcomes of the Manama Health Conference and Expo 2023 and the 15th Arab-German Health Forum
3. Outcomes of the participation in the Ministerial Meeting on Urbanization and Climate Change at the 28th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28)
4. Participation in the events of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change at COP28
5. Outcomes of the 39th Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC)
